MOFC Constitutional Carry

In 2015, the Missouri Firearms Coalition (MOFC) was formed to address the state’s lack of Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law.

With an overwhelming Republican majority in both chambers, it was surprising to Missourians that they were being ‘left behind’ as so many other states were advancing this legislation.

The Chairman of the Board for MOFC, Dr. Curt Frazier, knew that the Dorr Brothers were working on similar legislation in nearby Iowa, and asked them to assist in the fight that was brewing in Jefferson City.

Late in 2015, Aaron recruited then-State Representative Eric Burlison to carry this legislation for MOFC members, and H.B. 1408 was pre-filed on December 4, 2015.

Aaron and Chris immediately began whipping up support for this legislation in an effort to obtain cosponsors on the bill, both inside the legislature, and amongst gun owners across the state.

Iowa Gun Owners 2016 Elections

Since 2010, Senate Majority Leader Mike Gronstal and Iowa Senate Democrats held back Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground legislation as state after state enacted this crucial legislation.

With a growing number of their colleagues getting booted out of office for their votes against the Second Amendment thanks to the work of Iowa Gun Owners, they passed ancillary gun bills, but not the bills that Iowans wanted.

Throughout the 2016 session, the NRA and their instate affiliate, the Iowa Firearms Coalition, literally begged Mike Gronstal and Senate Judiciary Chairman Steve Sodders to pass pro-gun legislation in a shameless display of desperation, but got nothing in return.

Iowa Gun Owners doesn’t beg.

What I Know About The Dorr Brothers

Having been elected to the legislature in Missouri for a decade, I know that the phrase ‘Victory has a thousand fathers, while failure is an orphan’ is very accurate in the public policy arena.

When major legislation becomes law, everyone likes to stick their hand up to claim sole credit for its passage.

The truth is that passing significant legislation is usually a joint effort between a bill’s primary sponsor and supportive organizations that rally their members into encouraging lawmakers to support the bill.

This is the way things are supposed to work.
